The expansion project provided additional resources and capacity to the Queensland Children’s Hospital including a teaching space and library on Level 7, upgraded oncology rooms on Level 11 and added beds on Level 12.
The new 29-bed orthopaedic and neurosurgical ward has mostly multi-bed rooms and includes a six-bed high-acuity unit for children requiring close observation, a physiotherapy room, two family spaces, expanded clean and dirty utility areas, multiple storage areas and nursing stations that allow for increased patient visibility.
We were proud to fit-out the original hospital build in 2014, a $55 million project that saw the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital transformed into one of the state’s leading children’s facilities.
The hospital was one of the largest public health projects in Australia at the time and remains a case study in healthcare excellence with nearly 400 beds, 12 clinical levels and more than 80,000 m2 of floor space.
When it came time for this paediatric hub to be upgraded, we were the perfect fit having completed the original works to an exceptionally high standard.
